Emergency Intervention Phase
The emergency intervention phase at the Palace of the Raïs marked the beginning of the restoration works. It involved establishing a construction and conservation workshop to stabilize and reinforce the original structures of the monument, while removing later alterations, distortions, and damage that had affected the historic site over time. This initial phase was essential to secure the building and prepare it for the subsequent restoration and conservation work.
Research and Analysis Phase
During this phase, a comprehensive architectural survey and analysis of the Palace of the Raïs was carried out. Detailed observations were documented in the form of technical files and reports, allowing specialists to identify the characteristics and distinctive features of each architectural element. A set of technical specifications was then prepared for every individual space within the monument to guide the restoration process. In addition, detailed studies were conducted on the building's foundations, drainage and sewage systems, and the condition of its roofing, with provisions made for the renewal or restoration of roof surfaces where necessary.
Beginning of the Restoration Works
The initial stage of the restoration was carried out on an emergency basis to ensure the prompt preservation of the monument. Restoration and conservation work was undertaken according to a well-defined restoration program. The project focused on restoring and preserving the palace's original architectural elements, while returning its various rooms and spaces to their authentic historical appearance. In addition, the structure of the monument was reinforced and stabilized, and the walls were treated with moisture-resistant materials to protect the building from humidity and ensure its long-term preservation.
