Historical Symposium

Within the framework of the celebration of the 63rd anniversary of the restoration of national sovereignty, under the slogan:

“Algeria of Victories… Gains and Achievements”

On Monday, 7 July 2025, the Arts and Culture Centre at the Sea Heads Palace – Fort 23, organised a historical symposium entitled:

“Algerian Memory from Liberation to Construction”

The symposium was attended by professors and researchers in history. Dr Boualem Chari from Kassidi Merbah University – Ouargla – presented an intervention entitled:

“Algerian youth and its role in the paths of struggle, liberation and construction”

and Professor Ahmed Soudi from the African University – Adrar – presented an intervention entitled:

“French crimes in the Algerian desert … an unhealed wound”. He shed light on the French nuclear tests in Rafan and their dangerous effects on the population and the environment.

The meeting concluded with a documentary presentation that included live testimonies and rare archival documents about the French nuclear tests, in an attempt to highlight the far-reaching impact of these crimes on the national memory.

This seminar comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to preserve the collective memory and enhance the awareness of generations about the stages of the national struggle and the post-independence construction process.

The event was attended by a number of media professionals, those interested in historical affairs, as well as a wide audience of visitors to the centre.
